There are two types of collar stays to do the job:

Removable Collar Stay
Removable collar stays are typically a piece of plastic that goes underneath the dress shirt collar after washing and ironing. Although convenient during washing and ironing, they can get lost!

Sewn In Collar Stay
The name says it all. Very convenient as you never need to remove them, they can prove to be cumbersome during the ironing and tumble drying process as most sewn in collar stays are made of plastic and will curl over time, causing shape malformation of the collar.
